2007 Middle Class STAR Rebate Program Notice

Please be advised that the NYS Dept. of Taxation and Finance has notified us that on about August 27^th they will begin sending letters alerting Onondaga County Basic STAR homeowners that they need to apply AND provide income information in order to receive this year’s Middle Class STAR Rebate.  This does not apply to those that receive the Sr. STAR exemption – You have already provided your income to our office, and as long as you have the Sr. STAR on the current assessment roll, you should be all set.  If you are 65+ years of age and receive the letter please follow the directions and contact the Assessor’s Office at 689-7405.

Basic STAR Mobile Home Park Tenant’s [MHPT]/Homeowners have until November 30, 2007 to apply.  The State will use the current Assessment Roll information for the mailings, and our office has also supplied them with the listing of MHPT’s that have the STAR Exemption.  NYS will be mailing an application to be filled out and returned to them OR, in order to receive a check faster, you may submit an application via on-line.  If you do not have the internet and you have any questions AFTER you receive your letter you may call the NYS Tax Department’s Rebate phone line at:  1-877/678-2769.

NOTE: In the letter they will be sending you a STAR Code number that you will need in order to apply!!!
